Welcome to the Yorkshire Mouse online shop

A gorgeous Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson octagonal burr oak coffee table - circa 1940. It has a superbly adzed single plank top, which is great to see as the Mouseman octagonal coffee tables normally have two plank tops. The top sits on a cruciform base and being an early coffee table, the base has been subtly adzed - rare to see and normally only seen on the early coffee tables. The top has been carved from a wonderful piece of quite heavily burred oak, which has lots of irregularities in the grain, it really is a fabulous piece of oak. On the cruciform base sits a fairly large, plump signature mouse.

Regarding condition, it is very good with just a bit of wear and tear seen on close inspection, all in line with around 85 years of use. Please note that the top of the coffee table is not chipped; being burr oak, it has natural irregularities in the oak that are highly prized and add immense character to the piece. As a general rule the more irregularities there are in Mouseman burr oak pieces, the better.

The top of the table measures 50.5 cm x 50.5 cm. Overall the table stands 46.5 cm high.

A superb, rare piece with amazing patination that looks almost like dark treacle. It really is a great Mouseman piece.
