A wonderful example of a vintage Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson Table / Desk Lamp - circa 1970. It has been so well carved with the signature mouse climbing up the base. Rather than looking forward, the mouse is looking out to the left, making it a bit more unusual. It is a gorgeous dark gingerbread colour, and it has been adzed all over. There are some lovely natural medullary rays that run through the oak, when they catch the light look like gold ribbons. Very nice, they add even more charm to the lamp.
 
It is in very good condition. On very close inspection, you can see slight surface wear. There are also some tiny nibbles on the very edges of the carved leaves on the base, you can't really see them, but if you run your fingers over them, you can feel them. Quite common with these older Mouseman lamps and all in line with approximately 50 years of use. 
 
Being an earlier made lamp, it is a bit smaller than the later examples, standing 25.5 cm high, the later lamps measure 26.5 cm. It is in full working order.
