A superb example of a vintage Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson fruit bowl. It has been carved from a lovely piece of oak commonly referred to as 'character' oak. It has a natural inconsistent pattern in the grain which is very unusual to see in the Mouseman bowls and really adds charm to the piece. It also has medullary rays running throughout the grain which capture the light beautifully. The signature mouse has been so well carved as well and sits within the bowl, which has wonderful patination. The colour is also great, almost like toffee.
 
It is in very good condition with no fruit acid staining, no chips, and no cracks. The diameter measures 29 cm, so it's a bit smaller than the later examples which measure 30.5 cm. An excellent example of a Mouseman fruit bowl.
