A superb, vintage Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson fruit bowl - circa 1970. It has been so well made, expertly tooled, and adzed to the interior and the exterior. The dark toffee colour is absolutely wonderful, and the oak has medullary rays running throughout that reflect the light and literally glisten. The signature mouse has been exceptionally well carved, it is a good shape with a slightly higher back end, a really good face, whiskers and ears. It sits in the centre of the bowl. The condition is excellent with no damage. The diameter measures 30 cm, so it's a little bit smaller than the later bowls, which measure 30.5 cm. It really is a stunning bowl, definitely one to display rather than use.
