A superb example of a vintage Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson Table / Desk Lamp - circa 1960. It has been beautifully made with a really small, perfectly carved signature mouse climbing up the base. It is a gorgeous colour and has been adzed all over, even to the base. A wonderful piece in full working order.
 
Being an earlier made piece, it is a bit smaller than the later examples, standing 25.5 cm high, the later lamps measure 26.5 cm. 
 
It is in very good condition with no damage, just very light wear seen on close inspection, all in line with approximately 60 years of use. Quite often these earlier made lamps have nibbles, especially to the edges of the carved leaves, but not on this example. There is a little knot at the top of the lamp, which is completely natural, not damage, and adds a bit of character to the piece. 
 
These vintage 1960s Mouseman lamps are becoming more sought after as the 1950s examples are now almost impossible to get hold of, and when they do come to the market, they command huge prices.
