A wonderful Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson writing bureau with two signature mice. It has four drawers, two are half width drawers and two are full width. The signature mice are carved on the lopers, which pull out to support the fall front. It is a lovely warm honey colour and it has been beautifully carved with panelled sides and back. The fall front has been superbly adzed.
 
The condition is very good. The colour to the top of the bureau is uneven with faint staining, and a light ring stain where a plant pot has been. On very close inspection, to the back of the bureau there are some tiny nicks, one smoothed out. Obviously not noticeable when displayed as they are to the back. There are a few other small nicks here and there.
 
The stationery compartments inside the bureau are quite clean with slight signs of wear, small indentations to the fall front where this would have been used for writing etc. The lopers, which pull out to support the fall front, are a bit stiff when being pulled out or pushed back in, probably because they've not really been used that much. The drawers are quite clean, again with some signs of wear and use.
 
The height of the bureau measures 91.5 cm. The width is 91.5 cm. The depth with the fall front lid open is 75 cm, with the fall front closed, it is 48cm including the mice. It has its original lock which is in full working order and two keys. A really great Mouseman piece.
