A vintage Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson dark oak dished top stool. Less common than the other Mouseman stools as the method involved in shaping the seat is quite time-consuming, so not as many were made. The oak seat is soaked in water until it can be bent into a more rustic shape as seen on this example. The process often resulted in the oak cracking and wastage. Hence why the dish top stools are rarer and therefore more highly sought after.
 
The condition is very good with just wear commensurate with age and use - small chips and a natural split in the grain can be seen on very close inspection at the bottom of one leg. The colour is really lovely, and it has a well carved signature mouse to one front leg. The height of the stool is 38 cm. The seat measures 40.5 cm x 28 cm. A strong, sturdy stool with no loose joints, suitable for everyday use.
