An early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson 1940s drinks tray. These rectangular trays are quite rare to the market, much rarer than the kidney shaped trays, so are always highly sought after by collectors when they do come up and they can command very high prices. This example has been beautifully tooled to the top surface and has two signature mice, one at either end. The condition is very good. It has some old nicks and light scratches, all in line with 80 - 90 years of age and use. A lot of these trays are warped and heavily stained as they were used regularly to serve drinks, so it's nice to see one that has only seen light use. It measures 55 cm (including the mice) x 31 cm. An unusual, early piece.
