A superb, rare, early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson table lamp - circa 1940. It is a tall lamp, measuring just under 31 cm (not including the bulb holder) and is a fair bit bigger than the Mouseman table lamps that normally come to the market.
 
It has four carved leaves to each corner of the base and an excellent stout signature mouse running up the stem. It is a wonderful dark oak colour with fantastic patination, which gives it that incredible glossy finish. It also has some small natural knots in the oak that really add character and charm to the piece.
 
The condition is very good with no damage, just a bit of surface wear, all in line with age and use. There are no nibbles to the carved leaves, no chips to the ears of the mouse, and no losses to the tail either. The base has been lined with green baize.
 
The lamp is in full working order with the bulb holder to the top which has a lamp shade ring attached, which unscrews off so a shade can be fitted. The ring screws back on over the shade to hold it in place. It also comes with an amber glass bulb.
 
A superb, early Mouseman piece and extremely rare to the market, especially with it being a tall lamp. It really is stunning!
