A superb pair of early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson napkin rings - circa 1940s / 50s. These little napkin rings are really quite rare. They measure just 4 cm, so much smaller than the later napkin rings that grew in size as the decades went on, eventually measuring 5 cm. 
 
The mice also grew in size on the later napkin rings, often a bit plumper than these early mice, which are normally much smaller and thinner. Both napkin rings have been beautifully made, and obviously made as a pair, they are not just two random early napkin rings matched together. They are a wonderful dark oak colour, again quite rare to see. The napkin rings that normally come to the market are nearly always later and much lighter in colour. They don't have the same character as these earlier made examples.
 
Both are in very good condition with just a bit of wear seen on very close inspection. The ears on the mice have been spared damage, which is great to see, as they often have chips. 
 
Overall, they are quite a wonderful pair of early Mouseman napkin rings, these examples do not come to the market very often.
