A rare, early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson cheese board with the mouse on the board - circa 1940.
It is in very good condition. There are few small nibbles on the mouse, including to its ears, there are also some light knife marks. Other than that, no issues. It is a lovely colour, and it has been really well carved. Perfect for serving your after-dinner cheeses over the festive period!
Please note, these earlier cheese boards have the signature mouse carved directly onto the board. In the 1960s the mouse was moved to the handle to give it more strength, so all the later boards have the mouse on the handle, and the earlier examples have the mouse on the board.
