A really rare set of six bespoke Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson boardroom chairs. The chairs are part of a slightly larger set of eight. Six of the chairs are suitable for use as dining chairs as the seats are the correct height. The other two are armchairs that will be too large to fit under some dining tables, so they are being sold separately.
 
The set was designed to look like the 1930s Mouseman chairs with two mouse tails on the back panels of each chair. But they were actually made in the late 1950s / 1960s. They are quite substantial, heavy, solid chairs. The back panels and the panel seats are fully adzed, which is quite striking as the rippled oak really reflects the light beautifully. 
 
These chairs would have been commissioned for use in a boardroom. One was taken to Diane Sinnott (one of the UKs leading experts on Mouseman) in order to get her opinion on them. She said she has only seen one other set, which was sold by Tennant's Auctioneers in 2020, so they really are quite rare. 
 
Regarding condition, they are excellent with no damage, just slight wear commensurate with age. They have been professionally polished and waxed, so look fabulous. The colour of the oak is absolutely gorgeous with medullary rays glistening here and there like ribbons of gold. They are a very special, rare set of Mouseman chairs.
 
The full height of each chair measures 103 cm. The seat height measures 45.5 cm. The width of each seat is 47 cm. The depth of each chair is 41 cm. 
 
The set can be split if buyers only require a set of four chairs. The armchairs are available in the online shop if buyers would like one or both of those.
