A really rare bespoke Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson boardroom armchair. The design of the chair is based on a 1930s Mouseman armchair with two mouse tails / scrolls on the back panels of the chair. However, it was actually commissioned in the 1950s / 60s for a boardroom. Hence the larger size.
It is a very substantial, heavy, solid armchair. The back panel and the panel seat are fully adzed, which is quite striking as the rippled oak really reflects the light beautifully. It is quite an impressive piece.
Regarding condition, it is excellent with no damage. It has been professionally polished and waxed, so is looking at its best. The colour of the oak is absolutely gorgeous, and it has wonderful patination.
The full height of the chair measures 114 cm. The seat height measures 45.5 cm. The full width is 62 cm including the arms. The depth is 53 cm.
There are two of these armchairs in stock that are being sold individually. The other armchair is almost identical to this one. The signature mouse has been carved on the right-hand side leg on each chair.
