A wonderful example of a 1960s Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson book trough. Fairly rare to the market, these sixties book troughs are fully adzed, not only to the sides, but to the back and to the book shelf as well. From the 1970s Mouseman stopped adzing the backs and shelves of their book troughs to save time, so the later examples are just adzed to the sides, the rest is plain.
It is in very good condition with no damage, just a bit of surface wear seen on close inspection, all in line with around 60 years of use.
The dark oak colour is gorgeous, and the patination is superb. Such a lovely example of a Mouseman book trough with a really well carved old signature mouse to the front.
It measures 45.8 cm x 20.5 cm x 20.4 cm.
