Welcome to the Yorkshire Mouse online shop

A fairly rare Trevor 'Squirrelman' Hutchinson magazine rack - circa 1980. All hand carved from dark oak with the signature squirrel on top eating a little nut. Each end has been beautifully adzed, which really adds to the character of the piece. It in is very good condition with no damage, just a little wear from over 40 years of use. It is a substantial, heavy piece and measures 39 cm high by 46 cm wide. It is a wonderful colour, has excellent patina, and a really well carved signature squirrel. A great piece. These earlier made Squirrelman magazine racks don't often come to the market.

Trevor 'Squirrelman' Hutchinson was trained by Wilf Hutchinson (his father). Wilf was famously one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He left Mouseman in 1957 and set up his own workshop, adopting the squirrel as his signature. He passed his skills onto Trevor, whose work has become very collectable, especially in recent years.
