A vintage hand carved oak stool / side table by Thomas 'Gnomeman' Whittaker (1910 - 1991). It is a lovely dark honey colour and has also been beautifully adzed all over, not only to the seat. Whittaker has carved his signature gnome on one of the end supports, which is quite a detailed little gnome with a smile on its face.
The condition is very good. The colour of the top of the seat is a bit uneven, other than that, just the usual wear seen on a stool of this age, small old indentations etc. It's a sturdy piece, these are often used as little side / lamp tables.
The seat height measures 37.5 cm. The top measures 38 cm x 28 cm. A beautiful, well made 'Gnomeman' piece.
