A gorgeous vintage Peter 'Rabbitman' Heap magazine rack with panelled sides and signature rabbit carved in high relief to the top. It is a wonderful rich, dark oak colour and being an earlier made piece, it has excellent patination. The panels have also been beautifully adzed and really reflect the light. A stunning piece.
It is in very good condition with no damage, just a bit of wear commensurate with age and use, mostly confined to the rim. The height measures 34 cm, the width is 42 cm, and the depth 22.5 cm. It has felt protectors on the feet to prevent damage to wood floors.
A great piece that can be used not only for storing magazines, but also books, children's toys, etc. They are fairly rare to the market, and this example has to be one of the best.
Peter Heap was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He set up his own workshop in 1970 and adopted the rabbit as his signature. His pieces have become highly collectable since his death.
