Quite rare to the market, an earlier made Peter 'Rabbitman' Heap dark oak ashtray, circa 1970. It has been beautifully hand carved with the signature rabbit sitting on top. It is in very good condition with just a few age-related natural splits in the grain and a bit of wear, all in line with age and use. The rabbit is in perfect condition with no chips to the ears or tail. A great Peter Heap piece.
Peter Heap was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He set up his own workshop and adopted the rabbit as his signature. His work is held in very high regard and since his death he has become extremely popular with Yorkshire Critter collectors.
