An excellent example of a Peter 'Rabbitman' Heap fruit bowl. It has been superbly tooled to the inside and expertly adzed on the outside. The little signature rabbit has been particularly well carved in high relief and sits inside the bowl. One of the best examples that has come to the market in a while. It has bamboo detail carved on the rim, which adds a bit more character and charm. It displays really, really well and the condition is near perfect with no damage, just ever so slight discolouration in the bowl from use, not really noticeable except on close inspection. The diameter measures 24 cm. A fantastic, hand carved piece.
 
Peter Heap was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He set up his own workshop in 1970 and adopted the rabbit as his signature. His pieces have become highly collectable since his death in 2022.
