A lovely vintage Colin 'Beaverman' Almack oak fruit bowl with the signature beaver on the outside of the bowl. It has been beautifully carved and the adzing to the exterior is gorgeous. The colour is also wonderful. The oak has a small natural knot and a nice pattern in the grain, which adds a bit of character. A dark line can be seen in the grain on the exterior of the bowl, this is just a natural inconsistency in the grain, not damage.
Regarding the condition of the bowl, it is excellent with no fruit acid staining. To be very picky, on close inspection, one tiny nick can be seen on the bottom of the bowl and ever so slight surface wear can also be seen, all in line with age and use.
The diameter measures 24.5 cm.
Colin 'Beaverman' Almack was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He worked for Thompson during the 1940s and 1950s. He set up his own workshop in 1960 and adopted the beaver as his signature.
