A wonderful vintage Colin 'Beaverman' Almack dark mahogany fruit bowl with the signature beaver on the outside of the bowl. It has been expertly carved and the adzing to the exterior is superb. The colour is gorgeous, and the signature beaver has also been so well executed with a raised head and a little mouth and nostrils, very charming, the attention to detail is fantastic.
 
Regarding the condition of the bowl, it is excellent with no damage and no fruit acid staining. To be picky, on close inspection, one small, faint dark mark can be seen within the bowl, and very light surface wear, otherwise it's perfect - a really great piece that displays well.
 
The diameter measures 27.5 cm.
 
Colin 'Beaverman' Almack was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He worked for Thompson during the 1940s and 1950s. He set up his own workshop in 1960 and adopted the beaver as his signature.
