A really lovely Colin 'Beaverman' Almack small coffee table. It has been well made with the signature beaver carved in high relief running up one leg. It has been beautifully adzed to the top and also has a useful bottom shelf. It is a wonderful colour and is in very good condition with just a very fine natural split in the oak to the top (priced accordingly), otherwise just ever so slight wear. It has 4 carved scrolls to each corner, which add a bit of character to the table. The top measures 68.5 cm x 45 cm and has been treated with a stain protector to prevent staining, most likely Osmo. As the top has been protected, there is no staining. The height of the table is 45.5 cm. A great Beaverman piece.
Colin 'Beaverman' Almack was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He worked for Thompson during the 1940s and 1950s. He set up his own workshop in 1960 and adopted the beaver as his signature.
