A vintage Bob 'Wrenman' Hunter five-bar farm gate letter rack with the signature wren perched on the top. It has been beautifully carved and is a bit unusual in that it is freestanding. The Wrenman letter racks that come to the market are normally smaller examples which are made to be mounted on the wall. This one has a hand carved base and being freestanding it can sit anywhere. They command higher prices at auction as they are more substantial.
 
It is in very good condition with just some light wear seen on close inspection.

Bob 'Wrenman' Hunter was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He left Mouseman and started his own workshop, adopting the little wren as his signature. His pieces are always exceptionally carved, so are very sought after by collectors.
