A lovely Don 'Foxman' Craven armchair with a Yorkshire rose beautifully carved onto the back panel. It has been upholstered with cream leather, which really compliments the light colour of the oak. The condition is very good with no damage, just slight wear from age and use. It dates to the 1960s / 1970s. A stunning piece, and actually a very comfortable armchair. The signature fox has been carved to one front leg with a bushy tail in a seated position.
If you would like a pair of these armchairs, then please email info@yorkshiremouse.co.uk as there is another one in stock that is being sold separately.
Don Craven was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He left Thompson's workshop in the early 1960s and set up Aldborough Woodcrafts with another ex Mouseman Craftsman, Bob Hunter. Bob later went on to establish Wren Cabinet Makers in Thirlby, first using the tortoise as his signature, but later changing it to the wren. He is now known as Wrenman.
