A really superb Bob 'Wrenman' Hunter standard lamp. The base of the lamp has been exquisitely carved with a well executed signature wren perched onto it. The condition is very good. On close inspection, you can see that the tip of the wren's tail is a bit lighter and has been replaced. Often the beaks and tails get damaged on the Wrenman pieces as they are so delicately carved. The repair is only noticeable because the colour of the tail is a bit lighter, this could be stained darker and would probably not even be noticeable at all. Other than that, the lamp is in excellent condition. It is in full working order and measures 148.5 cm high (excluding the brass fittings), so it's quite a tall lamp. A really beautiful Wrenman piece.
 
Bob 'Wrenman' Hunter was one of Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's craftsmen. He set up his own workshop and adopted the little wren as his signature after watching a pair of wrens building a nest in the workshop. His pieces are always exceptionally well carved so are very highly sought after.
