An early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson leather strap top stool - circa 1930s. It is a lovely dark oak colour with four beautifully carved octagonal legs. With it being an earlier made stool, the legs and stretchers are fully adzed, which is great to see - later Mouseman stools are just plain. The old signature mouse has been really well carved and runs up one leg.
The strap leather top is all original and has excellent patination. The condition is good, it has one broken strap and some stains and wear - all commensurate with age and almost 100 years of use. The frame of the stool has a few small, old chips, and again, age-related wear, other than that, it is a good, solid stool, structurally sound with no loose joints. The signature mouse has a bit of wear on its back (please see zoomed in picture), otherwise it is in really good condition with no cracks, and no chips to the ears.
The top of the stool measures 34 cm x 26.5 cm. The overall height is 35.5 cm. A great, early Mouseman piece, all in original condition.
